These fifteen prayers focus on the Sacred Passion of Our Divine Lord, and are believed to have been revealed to St. Bridget of Sweden (feastday – Oct. 8), a great devotee of the Passion. Unfortunately, these prayers sometimes appear in booklets along with the promises whose publication the Holy Office forbade in 1954.
St Bridget of Sweden was also called Birgitta Birgersdotter, Princess of Nericia or Birgitta of Vadstena. She was the founder of the Bridgettines nuns and monks. She was born in 1303 in Uppland, Sweden, and died on July 23 1373 in Rome, Papal States at the age of 70 years. Her feast day is celebrated on July 23 every year in the Catholic Church.These beautiful prayers were allegedly given to St. Bridget of Sweden by our blessed Lord with the instruction that they were to be recited everyday for twelve (12) years.
